INSTITUTIONAL AWARD

1. INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD BY BRITISH COUNCIL
We are the proud recipients of The International School Award (ISA) for three years, from 2010-2013. The award comes after the year-long participation of students in various international projects with their peers across the globe in an accreditation program by the British Council.

2. ENERGY-EFFICIENT SCHOOL BY SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC UNDER CONSERVE MY CAMPUS
Forty Green Ambassadors from grades 5 to 7 were chosen to participate in various activities and create awareness to conserve energy in and around the campus. The school was acknowledged as the Energy Efficient School of the city.

3. TOP 5 - SCHOOLS AND PRE UNIVERSITY COLLEGES IN KARNATAKA, INDIA
The Global Triumph Foundation recognized Carmel High School and P U College for the same.

4. STATE-LEVEL BEST INSTITUTION AWARD
The award was presented by the Deputy Director-General NCC Air commander L K Jain. The state-level Best Institution Award is awarded based on the achievements of the cadets and ANO performance.

5.SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE BY MYKENSHO
Carmel High School was recognized as the School of the Future for building career competencies in students by successfully initiating and executing the Career education program "Mykensho" for two years.

6.THE TOP FIVE SCHOOLS IN SOUTH ZONE, BANGALORE BY TIMES FOUNDATION
Carmel was recognized as one among the top five schools in the south zone, Bangalore, by Times Foundation in their national-level survey for top schools of the country and state.

7.UKIERI Project
Carmel was one of the six chosen schools associated with the UKIERI Project. Students interviewed eminent musicians, prepared collages, PowerPoint presentations, and had a pen pal program interacting with their peers from the cluster schools abroad.

Sarala Jain , Head Of Department ( Hindi)

Mrs. Sarala Jain, H.O.D of the Hindi Department was among the 17 winners of the Teachers Award For Innovative Teaching (TAFIT2014) for her innovative, inspiring teaching methodologies, use of technology, and authentic pupil learning. Teacher Foundation conferred the award in collaboration with Times Foundation.

❖ Awarded the "Teaching Excellence Award 2016" in the category Innovative Teaching Strategies in Hindi by S Chand. Mrs. Jain was chosen by a panel of experts and jury members from among 4000 entries.

❖ She was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award 2018- Star Innovator in Hindi at the secondary level by S.Chand Group and the Progressive Teacher magazine in New Delhi by MikkoLeppanen, Principal, Viherlaakso School, Espo City, Finland; her innovative teaching strategies encouraging and fostering skills of collaborative learning were much appreciated.

❖ She was awarded the TEACHERS AWARD FOR INNOVATIVE TEACHING -2018 runners-up and a cash prize by TIMES FOUNDATION at Christ University, Bangalore.

❖ She was awarded the " Prerana Samman 2018" by Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Mahila Mandal " Rohini" on World Women's Day March 8th, 2018. She was awarded by Corporator Ms. Deepa Nagesh, Ex-Mayor Padmavati, Ms. Manjula, and Mrs. Savithri Sureshkumar. She was conferred with this title for her dedicated service with passion in the field of education through innovative teaching techniques, being a role model, and a woman of inspiration.

❖ She was awarded the Nation Builder Award on September 25th, 2021 by the Federation of Independent Recognised School Teachers, Karnataka. The award was conferred by Dr. Santosh Hegde, Former Justice of the Supreme Court of India. The award was conferred for integrating ICT in her teaching and service to the student community.

❖ Awarded the TATA CLASS EDGE INNOVATIVE TEACHER AWARD AT THE ZONAL LEVEL IN 2016

Roopashree. K (NCC)

Mrs. Roopashree K of I Karnataka girls unit has been awarded and presented with the Chief Minister's Commendation by Brigadier DM Poorvi Math, Deputy Director-General of Karnataka and Goa Directorate of NCC on January 2019, at Chopra Auditorium ASC Centre and Pioneer Centre, Viveknagar, Bangalore.


Kalyani.N , Academic Co-Ordinator (High School)

❖ She was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award 2018 for adopting innovative teaching strategies in Science at the secondary level by S.Chand Publications in New Delhi. She was recognized for integrating technology in the classroom and extensive use of the laboratory.


Lalitha Bhargavi, Department Of Mathematics

❖ She was awarded The Teachers Award for Innovative Teaching TAFIT 2019 organized by Times Foundation and Christ University for innovative teaching in Mathematics at the higher secondary level.


Nethravathy, Department Of Physical Education -Yoga

❖ She represented Karnataka and participated in National Himalayas, and secured a place in the group above 28Yrs.

❖ She took part in the Yoga world festival and secured II place in the Yoga World Championship held at Mahabalipuram, Tourism Beach Resort, Chennai Tamil Nadu

❖ She took part in SGS International Yoga Foundation College and Research Center (R) conducted by Bharath Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Yogasana Championship and secured first place and was selected for the 6th Yoga festival in Vietnam.

❖ She took part in 37th State level yogasana championship 2017 organized by Karnataka Yoga Association (R) representing R Nagaraj Yoga Kendra and secured I place in 30-40yrs female age group.

❖ She took part in the Yoga world festival, world yoga conference and received a certificate of appreciation for her performance Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand) in a World Record attempt to Honour Freedom Fighters and Support Yoga Education held at Eliots Beach, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

❖ Mrs. Nethravathy, the Yoga instructor, participated in the Mysore Dasara Yoga competition 2018 and secured third place in the 35-45 Yrs Women's category.

❖ Brahmashree Narayana Guru Yoga Mandira Trust collaborated with Ministry for Disabilities and the Senior Citizens Empowerment Department to organize the International Level Open Yogasana Championship 2019. The yoga instructor Ms.Netravathy bagged the first prize in the age group of 31-42 years.

❖ She participated and won first place in Yoga World Championship conducted by YuvaYoga Mandiram trust.

Mr. Sharanabasappa S M HOD of Social Science Department has been honored by Creative Art Zone, Bangalore as "The Most Creative Teacher" for his passion and creativity in teaching.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENTS

LITERATURE AND LANGUAGE

❖ Suhan Prabhu and Kushal Jhajaria of Class IX bagged the II place in financial Quest 2012, India's biggest inter-school financial Quiz conducted by CNBC TV 18 & National Stock Exchange on February 11th, 2012

❖ Vibha Mohan won Winnova Genius of Karnataka & won a laptop for the same. She qualified for the Wizkids Finals 2010 and was selected to represent Bangalore at the South Asia Finals. She was chosen to visit New Zealand for an International Student Programme. She was also adjudged "Buoyancee student of the year."

❖ Tapan Alexander Menezes And Abhishek Jaykumar won third place for Carmel High School in the state-level debate competition hosted by Verbattle, Karnataka biggest Debate competition


ART & CULTURE

Budding Drama Artist: Aishwarya of III C was selected as the contestant in the mega audition round among 40,000 participants for the "Drama Junior Season 2" program, telecasted on the Zee Kannada channel.

SINGING : T. Nikhil was adjudged as the "Best Singer" on E-TV Kannada Channel, showcased at the "Yedhe Thumbi Haduvenu." He was also declared the Little Champion in the Sa Re Ga Ma singing competition telecast on the Zee Kannada channel Hitesh, composed music for the opening scene of the Children's Film Festival graced by Late Abdul Kalam, former president of India


PHILATELY

Goutam Achar has won a lot of accolades for his passion in Philately. He has brought laurels to his Alma mater by winning a silver medal in "Cycling Stamps Display" in International Philatelic Exhibition at Beijing, 2008 Olympics


NATIONAL CADET CORPS

ROSHINI.G represented RDC Karnataka and Goa Directorate (1Kar Girls Batelin NCC) as part of the cultural team for excellence in cultural activities in Delhi's Republic Day Camp. She was recognized as one of the nine best cadets in Karnataka and Goa Directorate. She was felicitated by the Chief Minister Mr. Yediyurappa at Vidhana Soudha on February 4th, 2020, and by the Governor of Karnataka, Mr. Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, on February 5th, 2020, at Raj Bhavan, Bangalore

ATHLETICS AND SPORTS

I. Taekwondo

Pooja. P, the sports leader has represented at many District, State, National, and International Taekwondo Championships and has won many medals for the same. Based on her performance in National Open Taekwondo Championships held at Pune in October, she has been selected to represent our country in the 6th Common Wealth Taekwondo Championships in Junior Female under 46 Kg Wt. Category at Edinburg, Scotland.

The 5th World Taekwondo Culture Expo was held in Seoul, South Korea in July 2011. Two students of class 4 Tejal Menezes and Yashpreet represented India in the U-10 year category and won laurels for their alma mater by winning two bronze medals and a gold and a bronze respectively in Taeguik and Poomsae events.

❖ The Taekwondo Association of India had conducted the 5th South Zone National Taekwondo Competition on 31st January, 1st, and 2nd February 2014 at V.K. Manor Indoor Stadium, Calicut, Kerala. In the Sub Junior category, Sandeep of Class 7 won a bronze medal in the Individual and group Poomse and Taekquik event, Yashpreet B.V. of class 6 won a Bronze medal in the mixed pair, and group event.

The 6th World Taekwondo Championship 2012 was held at Muju Park in South Korea.
Five students from Carmel High School, Basaveshwarnagar, and one student from Carmel P. U. College participated in the same and have won medals for various events.
1. Yashpreet B.V. of grade 5C won a Gold in Taekquik and Bronze in Sparring(Fighting).
2. Kishan S of grade 5Awon a Gold in Taequik and Bronze in Sparring.
3. Sandeep S.V. of grade 6D won a Gold in Taequik and Bronze in Sparring.
4. Varun Rao of grade 5A won a Silver in Taequik and Silver in Sparring.
5. Tejal Menezes of grade 5C won a Bronze in Taequik and Bronze in Sparring.
6. Nikhil Jain of P.U.C. 2nd year won a Bronze in A level match in Sparring event.


II. SWIMMING

VIKRAM GOWDA National Swimmer Vikram Gowda begins his record-winning journey right from his childhood. He won his first gold medal at the age of 8. He went on to create history at many competitions at all levels – district, zonal, state, national and international level. He participated in the world’s longest open water championships in West Bengal and was the first Indian to finish in 4th place.
He participated in multiple events at the All India Sea Swimming Competition 2017 held at Porbandar, Gujarat. He secured 4th place in 10,000 m and 5th place in the 5000 m event. A winner in the 2 km Speedo Swimathon held in Goa, Vikram took part in the 7th Asian Open Water Swimming Championships held at Putrajaya, Malaysia in May 2017, securing 14th place in the 10km event and 14th place in the 5 Km event. The management of Carmel High School sponsored a cheque prize of Rs. 50,000; as a mark of recognition for his budding talent.

Lavanya .S of grade 9 has been declared the champion in U-16 Free Style Swimming at National Level Championships held in Pune. She has also won silver & bronze medals at the South Zone level in Chennai. In the Women’s National Championships held at Bhubaneshwar, she won 3 bronze medals.

Lavanya. G of 10A has participated in various styles in State senior Aquatic Championship-09 and XXIV sub-junior National Aquatic Championship-09 level events and secured many golds, silver, and bronze medals. She has also won a Bronze at the National level held by the Swimming Federation Of India.


III. SKATING

DHANUSH BABU The ace Skater has won Silver and Bronze medals at the National level and three Gold medals at the State level

● September 2008-Mysore State level Championships – Gold, Silver & bronze
● October 2008- District Level – 2 golds and one silver
● November 2008 – National level Speed skating – 1 gold, 2 silvers
● December 2008 – Selected for Ice Skating in Germany
● Winner of ’30 secs to fame’ in Whiz kids 2008.

A versatile sportsman, he has won a Gold Medal in the high jump at the BSSF Athletic Meet. He has also won a Silver medal in the high jump at the District level and a Gold medal at the Karnataka Taluk Level Sports Meet.


IV. CRICKET

Nitesh Gowda of class 9B had been selected as Captain to lead the Karnataka South Zone U14 Cricket team. He led the team for five matches against Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh and scored well against all the teams, his highest being 95 not out against Kerala. Karnataka team led by him were the Runners Up in the Tournament.

❖ In celebration of 75 glorious cricketing years, the KSCA(Karnataka State Cricket Association) organized the “Award Nite” at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Sunday 1st April 2012. Goutham. S of XB was given the Best Batsman award in the U-16 category. He received the award from International player Chris Gayle.

❖ Our youngsters Aneesh Gopal of 10B, Vishnu Prasad of 9B, and Yashas of 7A have brought laurels to themselves as well as to school at the International level by representing India in Sri Lanka for Indo-Lanka T-20 Power Cricket tournament U-15 years.


V. VOLLEYBALL

South Zone Inter School Volleyball Championship

Carmelites took part in South Zone Inter School Volleyball championship U- 17 boys’ category held at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Uppalam, Puducherry on 6th and 7th December 2018 and emerged as the winners.

Nihar P of class IX has been selected by the Karnataka Volley Ball Association for Sub-Junior National Volleyball Championship to be held in Bhubaneshwar (Orissa) to represent Karnataka.


VI. THROWBALL

ICSE National Level Throw Ball

It is a proud moment for Carmel High School as our students represented Karnataka in the ICSE national level throwball championship held in Ludhiana, Punjab, on 13th October 2018 in the under-19 girls’ category and won the championship. They won all five matches across the country and emerged champions. To acknowledge their achievement the school Management has awarded a cash prize of Rs.10,000 to each player.


VII. ATHLETICS

Sprinter Chirag B A of class IX participated in the district level athletics conducted by the Department of Public Instructions on 26th October 2018 and won silver in the 100m running race in the under-17 category. He has been selected for state-level athletics.

Suhas C Patel of class X participated in the district-level athletics conducted by the Department of Public Instructions on 4th November 2019. He won gold in the U-17 discus throw. He has been selected for state-level athletics.


VIII. SCOUTS

❖ Senior members of the Carmel Scout troop, Abhilash Jain, Hemanth Pugaliya, Manish, Sriram, Sanjay & Sandeep B V have won Rajya Puraskars in Scouts for their service to the community.

❖ Hemanth Pugaliya was declared the ‘Best Scout’ and received the award from the Governor of Karnataka.

Hemanth Pugaliya of 10D, Sriram of 10D, and Sanjay R.S of 10A have reached the highest level in scouts to get the prestigious award, the ‘President Award’ for Scouts.


IX. NATIONAL CADET CORPS

ROSHINI.G OF CLASS 9 represented RDC Karnataka and Goa Directorate (1Kar Girls Batelin NCC) as part of the cultural team for excellence in cultural activities In the Republic Day Camp, Delhi. She was recognized as one of the nine best cadets in Karnataka and Goa Directorate. She was felicitated by the Chief Minister Mr. Yediyurappa at Vidhana Soudha on 4th Feb 2020 and by the Governor of Karnataka Mr. Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala on 5th Feb 2020 at Raj Bhavan, Bangalore


X. YOGA

Student’s Achievement in Yoga
Roshini G of class VIII participated in the Yogasana Talent show and won the ‘Excellent’ award in the age group of 10- 15 years in the 25th International Yoga Festival conducted by the Department Of Tourism, Government of Puducherry She also secured first place in the KISA State Level Yoga competition.
