Carmel's greatest asset is our staff. We strive to be excellent, so we train the best to be better. We believe that learning never stops, and professional development enables teachers to provide relevant and personalised course instructions for today's students, transforming them into better and more qualified educators.

Teachers are always encouraged to participate and attend workshops and conferences related to their expertise and complete any recognized, rigorous training programs to develop their competencies. Imparting training for upskilling and upgrading teachers is the most consistent practice at Carmel

The Teacher Foundation Programmes

Touchstone Program

Right from classroom management tools to Quality Circle Time and activities to kindle the wish to learn in students were optimized in the training sessions. Touchstone was a model designed with innovative and meaningful strategies to develop students' higher-order thinking, promote better questioning techniques, explore a range of assessment methods, and develop rubrics as alternative tools to measure learning and teaching. An experiential portfolio of the teachers stood as a testimony to the knowledge gained by the teachers.

Carmel Way of Teaching

Active learning methodology where high-quality training is through experiences and learning from experts to make the platform for teachers stronger and more effective, the management provided a powerful intervention package titled Coaching For School Success [CFSS]. Emphasizing the importance of building a collaborative culture amongst teachers to diagnose gaps in the teaching-learning process and develop critical thinkers and active learners was the core of this coaching.

GSuite Training

This pandemic has led to a significant transition in the educational process. To cater to the needs of the present situation, Carmel organised various training programs for teachers in the usage of Google tools. The method of conducting online classes efficiently, regular assessments, and evaluation were of prime importance. The school management also sponsored the Google Certified Educator training for its Educators. Experienced and novice Carmel teachers confidently walk through the online doors with all the required digital modes, optimizing learning by channelling students' EQ and IQ.

Tata Class Edge – Virtual Engagement Mastery Program

Teachers are trained to be very effective with their engagement strategies, both offline and online platforms. Tata class edge works closely with our staff, aiding them to use digital tools to bring the teacher and students as close to a real, in-classroom like experience as possible.

Teachers' wellbeing workshops

Our staff's physical and mental health and socio-emotional wellbeing are of the highest priority of the management. Carmel hosts many seminars and workshops that dive into the various topics that concern our staff's wellbeing. We also encourage a self-SWOT analysis for teachers and help them to work on nurturing a positive classroom environment and setting a happy teacher attitude.

Carmel's Staffcation

Professional development is not complete without exposure to multicultural experience. Every year, our teachers are taken on a day outing where team building activities / recreational activities take place, bringing the Carmel family together.

While the school arranges International trips at special Carmel packages for those interested in our teaching and non-teaching faculty. some of the places visited in the past are Bangkok, Dubai, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Bali, China, Cambodia, and Egypt.

Thus, ongoing Professional Development is a critical part of the teaching-learning process at Carmel. Teachers must learn to collaborate, innovate and reflect, and that's where professional development comes to play, and the management creates ample opportunities for its staff.
