Tapan Alexander Menezes
Academic Adviser
“Let your joy be in your journey—not in some distant goal”

As an alumni of Carmel, carrying forward a proud legacy while embracing the future, Tapan Alexander Menezes brings a thoughtful, progressive approach to educational leadership at Carmel High School. Rooted in the values laid down by the school’s founders, his journey reflects a deep commitment to nurturing young minds through meaningful learning, innovation and care.
He believes that meaningful education is rooted in joy, balance of academic and fun school memories. He strongly advocates that schools should be spaces where students are curious and confident, teachers feel valued and inspired, and parents are active partners in the learning journey.
After completing his teaching degree, he worked as an English teacher and collaborated closely with schools across Bengaluru, gaining first-hand classroom experience and a deep understanding of student needs. He later pursued a Master’s degree in Leadership and School Management from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdoms which further shaped his approach to building progressive, inclusive, and student-centred educational environments that he builds here at Carmel
Through a balanced blend of tradition and innovation, Tapan Alexander Menezes remains committed to preparing students not just for examinations, but for life beyond the classroom
“Children are naturally curious, innocent, and a little naughty—and that’s where real learning begins. We often tell children how not to behave, but do we truly teach them what is right? I grew up in a Carmel where mistakes taught you how to bounce back with confidence. That’s the Carmel I want for you—a place where learning comes from trying, failing, reflecting, and growing into who you are meant to be.”
